Become a Lens Academy navigator and help small groups make sense of AI risk, in a few hours a week.

Fully remote · A few hours a week · No expertise required

What is a navigator?

Navigators are volunteers who guide weekly small-group discussions for a cohort. Each week your group works through the material, then meets online for a friendly, guided conversation that you lead.

You don't need to be an AI safety expert. You're supported by structured discussion materials, the Lens Tutor, and the Lens Academy team. Your job isn't to lecture. It's to keep the conversation warm, curious, and on track so everyone gets the most out of the material.

Why navigate?

A meaningful way to spend a few hours a week.

Something for your CV

Learn as you lead

Deepen your own understanding of AI risk by guiding others through it.

What's involved?

A light, bounded commitment across a 6-week cohort. Here's a typical week.

~3 hrs per week
  • Read & prep the material ~1h
  • Review the discussion guide ~0.5h
  • Guide your group meeting ~1.5h

One guided group meeting a week, plus light prep. Fully remote, over a 6-week cohort.

Who we're looking for

There's no formal expertise or teaching background required. Just commitment and warmth.

  • You're motivated and care about getting AI safety right.
  • You're comfortable guiding a friendly, curious discussion.
  • You can commit a few hours a week for the length of a cohort.
  • You want to help others think clearly, not push a particular view.
